High quality and high resolution Microscopes for creating magnified images

A microscope is an instrument used to see minute detailing of objects that can't be examined or analyzed using your naked eyes. The process through which these objects are photographed under a microscope is known as photomicrography. These microorganisms have to be dyed and mounted on a glass slide to be seen under a microscope. As time passed, technology started evolving and a new variety of microscopes was introduced. Some of these are listed below.

Electron microscope:

An electron microscope uses an electron beam instead of a light beam to obtain an extremely high resolution to view and analyse the object. An electron microscope can be subdivided into

  • Transmission electron microscope,
  • High-voltage electron microscopes,
  • Scanning electron microscope,
  • Environmental scanning electron microscope,
  • Field-emission microscope, and
  • Scanning transmission electron microscope.

Transmission electron microscope (TEM) lets us view images that come up to 1 micrometer in thickness. High-voltage electron microscopes work at a much higher voltage than a transmission electron microscope. A scanned electron microscope is used to obtain a detailed surface scan using electron beams. Using an environmental scanning electron microscope, you can scan the image of any object in any environment. Scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) is a combination of TEM, SEM, and microprobe analyzer.

Simple microscope:

These microscopes have a double convex lens with a short focal point. It produces a virtual, erect, and enlarged or magnified image when the object is placed within the focal length under natural light. The most commonly found simple microscopes are a magnifying glass and reading glass. Simple microscopes can be used to view algae, fungi, and small parts of devices, fabrics, soil, and much more.

Light microscope or Optical microscope:

An optical microscope is also known as a light microscope. These microscopes are laboratory instruments that use visible light on specimens to magnify or enlarge them. The light microscope can be divided into a simple light microscope and a compound light microscope based on the number of lenses. The lenses are aligned in such a way that the light can be bent to efficiently view the enlarged image of the specimen. Other modern light microscopes include-

  • Bright field Light Microscope
  • Phase Contrast Light Microscope
  • Dark-Field Light Microscope
  • Fluorescence Light Microscope

Bright field Light Microscope produces a dark image of the object on a bright background. It provides high-resolution images with the help of dual-lens. Phase Contrast Light Microscope can produce high contrast images even when the specimen (called phrase objects) used is transparent, i.e., not stained or dyed. The techniques used in the first two microscopes, combined, are used in the Dark-Field Light Microscope. The above microscope can only produce images after light passes through it. However, for the fluorescence light Microscope, the specimen emits light due to the dye molecules added to it. When the dye molecules become excited, they emit light which is used for viewing through this microscope.

Confocal microscopy:

A confocal microscope can be considered as a specialized fluorescence microscope that uses special optical components to produce high-resolution images of stained specimens. Shallow depth of field, elimination of out-of-focus glare, and the ability to view numerous optical sections from thick specimens are some of the benefits of a confocal microscope of the regular, standard optical microscope. The confocal microscope that is most commonly used is the laser scanning confocal microscope they are mostly used for biology and medicine, optics and crystallography, and audio preservation.

Digital microscope:

A digital microscope is similar to the traditional microscope but this one uses optics as well as a digital camera to produce the image of the specimen under view. It uses a digital camera instead of an eyepiece and is connected to a computer to display the image on the screen. It has advanced systems to observe and measure functions, store images while producing high-quality images.

They are easy to operate and provide higher magnification than optical microscopes. Digital microscopes are divided into Biological Digital Microscopes, Fluorescence Digital Microscopes, Inverted digital Microscopes, Metallurgical digital Microscopes, Digital USB Microscopes, and much more.
