Question 1

What are the three types of V-belts?

Accepted Answer

Common V-belt types include classical, narrow, and cogged. Each offers unique features for different power transmission needs, ensuring efficient operation across various industrial and automotive applications.

Question 2

What are V-belts used for?

Accepted Answer

V-belts are essential for transmitting power between shafts in machinery. They are commonly found in applications like industrial equipment, agricultural machinery, and automotive engines, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.

Question 3

What is the cost of V-belt?

Accepted Answer

V-belt costs vary widely, typically ranging from Rs. 100 to Rs. 1000 or more, depending on size, material, and brand. High-quality, industrial-grade belts will generally be at the higher end of this spectrum.

Question 4

Why is it called a V-belt?

Accepted Answer

It's called a V-belt due to its trapezoidal cross-section, forming a "V" shape. This design allows it to wedge into grooved pulleys, increasing friction and power transmission efficiency.
