Thorough maintenance of the tile cutter is very important to keep the performance of it at the peak. Due to heavy usage and cutting, it is very common that blade becomes blunt. To preserve the quality of the blade on should always take these steps to maintain the condition of the cutter.
- Clean the blade– After the use, clean the blade using a slightly wet cloth and remove the dirt and debris which often builds up at cutting edges of the blade. To remove stubborn dirt particles, you can use scrubbing sponge with light pressure.
- Sharpen your blades– By using a soft brick or cinder block; one can sharpen the ends of the blade. To check the roughness, run your thumbnail over the end to see the density of the rough end.
- Protection from rust– Rust is one of the biggest enemies of any work equipment. Leaving the cutter at a damp place can cause rust. To remove rust, soak the blade in a mild acid, for example, Vinegar. Or one can use WD-40 to remove rust and clean of the substance.
