This Ethicon NW2303 Vicryl 5-0 absorbable violet braided suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of Coated Vicryl suture occurs by means of hydrolysis. The absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength followed by a loss of mass. FeaturesIt is sharp enough to penetrate and carry suture through tissue with minimal resistance. It is made as slim as possible without compromising strength. The suture is rigid to resist bending, yet ductile to resist breaking. It is stable in the grasp of the needle holder. AdvantagesThis braided suture for easy handling and secure knot tying. It is coated for smooth passage through tissue. This is synthetic for minimal tissue reaction. 75% tensile strength at 14 days.
