Over the years, technology has brought innovations and better lighting options to our homes and commercial places. In the beginning, we just had a standard incandescent light bulb; but now, we have Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL) and Light-emitting Diodes (LED). Out of the total available lighting options, LED is one of the most energy-efficient and rapidly-developing lighting technologies. These bulbs are of high quality, last longer, and offer better light quality than other types of lighting options. Let’s discuss some of the important factors related to LED Bulbs.
How LEDs are Different from Others
LED lights are different from other lighting sources. The key differences include:
Light Source: LEDs are available in small sizes and are a mix of red, green, and blue that makes white light.
Direction: LEDs emit light in a specific direction. These reduce the need for reflectors and diffusers that trap light. So, these are more efficient for many uses such as recessed downlights and task lights.
Heat: LEDs produce very little heat as compared to incandescent bulbs and CFLs which respectively emits 90% and 80% of their energy as heat.
